Announcements from Council

Church Family: Let us continue to remember those in our midst with on-going illness. May the Lord continue to watch over us as we work and play this summer.  If you, then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:11).

Evaluation Forms:  Please note that if you have been given an evaluation form it needs to be filled out and returned to Rev. Ramkissoon. Tapes of the sermons are available if needed. This is a vital part of our help to Simon as he prepares for the ministry. Thank you. The Consistory.

Membership: Consistory has approved membership of Fred Martena from the Free Reformed Church in Lacombe and Jonathan & Candace Slomp with their baptized children Haley and Adrianna from the Imanuel Canadian Reformed Church in Edmonton .

Painters Needed: Come on out to help us finish painting the second coat at Ponoka Christian School on July 28 and 29 @ 9 am. If your gifts do not lie in holding a paint brush or roller, but you are still willing to lend a hand, we would love to see help in some last minute cleaning. From the Voice of the Martyrs: Pakistan - Saba and Aneela were kidnapped by Muslims on June 26. The kidnappers filed for custody, stating they had converted to Islam and their father had no longer jurisdiction over them.  They also had been forcibly married to Muslim men.  Pray that the ruling in favor of the Muslims will be repealed.  Pray that Saba and Aneela will be returned home.  Pray that they will remain strong in their faith.

Whitehorse Inn Topics

July 27, 2008 Who Needs Church?

In his recent book Revolution, George Barna suggests that Christians no longer need to join churches, but rather should simply look for life-coaches, and helpful information for spiritual growth via the internet. But can we simply do away with Church? What is the true role of the church? That's what's on tap this week at the White Horse Inn.

August 3, 2008 Calling the Sheep to Become "Self-Feeders?"

A recent study conducted by Willow Creek Community Church discovered that the most committed among their church members were the most vocal about the lack of theological depth, and were among the the most dissatisfied with the worship. Yet the conclusion to the report was that Willow Creek needs to do a better job encouraging their members to become "self-feeders." The hosts will discuss this report, and offer some conclusions of their own on this edition of the White Horse Inn.

August 10, 2008 American Deism

Is Deism on the rise? It is according to sociologist Christian Smith, who coined the term "moralistic, therapeutic deism" to describe the beliefs of America 's religious teens after his five-year study. What is the history of American Deism, and why is it making an apparent comeback? Tune in to find out on this edition of the White Horse Inn.
